Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Following our pick-ups this morning we will proceed to Belfast for the 07:30hrs Stena crossing to Cairnryan. We’ll travel south as we journey to Gretna for a lunch time comfort break. Refreshed, we’ll continue our journey along the M6 to Penrith before turning onto the A66 and travel over the Pennines to Scotch Corner where we’ll have a further short comfort stop. The next stage of our journey will take us to Appleby where we will check-in for our first train journey from Appleby to Settle. This journey takes approximately 1 hr and gives us the opportunity to see some magnificient scenery through the dales which we might otherwise miss. Our coach will pick us up at Settle Station from where we will continue our journey to Harrogate. We’ll be based at the 4-star Yorkshire Hotel in the town centre, where our estimated time of arrival is 18:00hrs. Time to check-in and become acquainted with our surroundings before our first dinner together.

Day 2

Depart Hotel 10:00hrs
This morning we will travel over the Yorkshire Moors to Pickering where we will have a short break before
we travel on to Goathland. Here we will have free time before checking-in for our steam train ride back to Pickering. We can enjoy the views from this historical form of transport as we chug along through the Yorkshire countryside. It’s then time to re-join our modern coach which will be back and waiting inPickering, for the return journey to the hotel. The line does operate both steam and diesel trains which aresubject to change without notice.

Day 3

Depart Hotel 10:00hrs
This morning we will travel to Embsay where we will be taken back in time when we join a return steam locomotive journey to Bolton Abbey. Listen to the hissing and puffing of the steam engine as you enjoy the journey through the Yorkshire countryside. We’ll then re-join our modern coach for the short trip to the charming market town of Skipton. Depending on numbers, we may be split into two groups – one for a morning and one for an afternoon canal cruise from Skipton with tea/coffee included. Each group will then have free time to stroll the cobbled streets and
browse the independent shops.

Day 4

Free Day in Harrogate or Optional Extra
Depart Hotel 10:00hrs
An excursion today to the beautiful riverside walled City of York which has so much to offer. You may wish to visit the Jorvik Museum, The York Minster, The Shambles or indeed an avid rail enthusiast may wish to seek out the National Railway Museum on the outskirts of the City.
Free time to explore at leisure.

Day 5

Depart Hotel 09:30hrs
Time to say our fond farewells as we begin the journey home. We’ll travel via a short visit to the Watershed
Mill & Visitor Centre in Settle. We will then continue our journey North up to Gretna where we will have a further comfort break and free time. It’s then time to move on again, up to Cairnryan where we must check in for the 19:30hrs ferry back to Belfast.
